Proyecto de Equión recibió galardón de la academia.
El proyecto aplicación de aceite vegetal de palma en las vías para el control de material particulado, desarrollado por el área de Obras Civiles de Equión, con el apoyo de los equipos de Operaciones y Medio Ambiente, fue galardonado en el marco del IX Congreso Internacional de Investigación Areandino 2018, por su innovación e impacto ambiental y social positivo.
Dicha iniciativa fue planteada como alternativa para reducir el uso de agua en el control de polvo por causa del paso de vehículos en vías no pavimentadas, en áreas pobladas.
Equión identificó en el aceite de palma una sustancia de control efectivo de la emisión de polvo, debido a que se adhiere a la superficie de la capa de rodadura, y adicionalmente su composición química no genera ningún tipo de impacto ambiental. De esta forma Equión plantea una alternativa efectiva para reducir el uso del agua para riego en las vías en la época seca.
De acuerdo con Felipe Noreña, especialista en Cumplimiento, Seguimiento y Control Ambiental de Equión, el estudio fue realizado en áreas de Yopal y Tauramena y fue presentado a la Autoridad Nacional de Licencias Ambientales (ANLA) para su aprobación, la cual se obtuvo en 2015.
