La accidentalidad vial sigue cobrando vidas en la capital casanareña. Según el subcomandante de los agentes de tránsito de Yopal, Diego García Peralta, en lo corrido de septiembre ya se han registrado cuatro muertes por siniestros viales, tres de ellas en motociclistas, lo que eleva a 51 las víctimas fatales en 2025.
Los hechos más recientes se reportaron el 10, 11, 14 y 17 de septiembre en diferentes puntos de la ciudad y la vía al Morichal. En el último caso, ocurrido en la calle 24 con carrera 19, las cámaras de seguridad evidenciaron que el conductor de una motocicleta se pasó un semáforo en rojo, lo que derivó en el fatal desenlace.
Factores de riesgo en los accidentes
De acuerdo con el subcomandante, las principales hipótesis de este último accidente son el exceso de velocidad, la impericia del conductor al no contar con licencia, la falta de póliza SOAT y una posible embriaguez.
“El 80 % de las víctimas mortales de este año se movilizaban en motocicleta. Hacemos llamados constantes a respetar las normas de tránsito, usar elementos de protección y no conducir bajo efectos del alcohol, pero lamentablemente estas conductas persisten”, recalcó García.
Siniestros en aumento y medidas preventivas
El panorama preocupa a la Secretaría de Movilidad y a la Administración Municipal, que en agosto había implementado un decreto de restricción nocturna para motocicletas después de las 11:00 p. m., lo que permitió tener un mes sin víctimas fatales. Sin embargo, en septiembre, al levantarse la medida, las cifras repuntaron.
El funcionario aclaró que las decisiones de nuevas restricciones dependerán de diagnósticos sobre los horarios y condiciones en los que ocurren los siniestros. “Estos eventos recientes se han registrado en horarios diurnos, por lo que en octubre no está previsto aplicar restricciones similares, aunque todo dependerá del comportamiento de los ciudadanos”, dijo.
Controles especiales por Amor y Amistad
De cara al fin de semana de Amor y Amistad, la Secretaría de Movilidad anunció controles especiales el viernes y sábado para evitar que la celebración se vea empañada por tragedias. El llamado a la ciudadanía es claro: no conducir bajo efectos del alcohol, usar transporte público si se va a ingerir licor, respetar las señales y portar los elementos de seguridad.
Un llamado urgente
La autoridad de tránsito recordó además que transportar mascotas en motocicleta representa un riesgo adicional, al afectar la maniobrabilidad del vehículo, como se evidenció en el siniestro del pasado 17 de septiembre, en el que también iba a bordo un perro que resultó ileso.
