Tras un año en su cargo, Arvey Méndez fue citado a control político por los diputados, en donde dio a conocer su trabajo en la prevención y atención de emergencias en este Departamento.
Gestión del Riesgo de Desastres es una de las carteras destacadas en el gobierno de Salomón Sanabria, en la cual, el Gobernador delegó la responsabilidad de su direccionamiento a Arvey Méndez Acosta, desde el pasado 26 de junio del 2022, quien ha venido trabajando en el conocimiento, reducción y manejo de las emergencias de manera rápida y oportuna.
Según el funcionario, gracias al trabajo articulado con alcaldes municipales, organismos de socorro, líderes comunales y Asamblea Departamental. Y así lo evidenció William Roa alcalde de Sabanalarga, Carlos Iván Díaz alcalde de Monterrey y Darío Yesid García alcalde de Hato Corozal, quienes elogiaron y respaldaron el trabajo destacado del director en sus municipios.
En el control político que se extendió por más de cuatro horas, Arvey y su equipo de trabajo, respondieron inquietudes y dieron a conocer cada una de las acciones adelantadas, entre las que se resaltaron las siguientes:
La atención a 11.256 familias damnificadas, con ayudas humanitarias. Llegando a lugares tan apartados, como los resguardos indígenas, La Poyata en Maní, La Hermosa en Paz de Ariporo y Bocas del Pauto en Trinidad.
Atención a 57 emergencias, naturales y/o antrópicas, en vías, puentes, viviendas y predios, como la remoción de ocho deslizamientos y habilitación de la vía de las veredas El Paraíso y Los Lirios de Aguazul. El colapso del puente del río Ariporo, en la vía Marginal del Llano. La remoción de 15 deslizamientos en Chámeza, cuando torrenciales aguaceros dejaron incomunicados a decenas de familias campesinas en las veredas Teguita Baja, La Palma, Brisas del Tonce, Centro Norte, San Rafael, Jordán Alto y Bajo. Más recientemente las avalanchas en Tauramena y Villanueva.
Para prevenir y reducir emergencias, se han realizado 90 obras correctivas y de protección, entre las que se destaca: un canal de 2.2. Km en el río Aricaporo. La rehabilitación y fortalecimiento al dique de más 5 km en el río Pauto.
Rehabilitación de vías afectadas por la lluvia
En tan solo un año de trabajo, se realizó la rehabilitación y recuperación de 625 km de vías terciarias afectadas por la lluvia. Esto comprende la distancia que hay entre Yopal – Bogotá en ida y vuelta. Las intervenciones se realizaron en comunidades campesinas de Támara, Hato Corozal, Monterrey, Nunchía, Orocué, Paz de Ariporo, Recetor, San Luis de Palenque, Tauramena, Trinidad y Yopal.

Ante el desabastecimiento de agua potable, se realizó la distribución de 12 millones de litros del vital líquido en Hato Corozal, Nunchía, Paz de Ariporo, Támara, Villanueva y Yopal, en respuesta a afectaciones en bocatomas, acueductos, pozos profundos, entre otros.
Un puente hacia la comunidad
Junto a la comunidad, la EAAAY y la Alcaldía Municipal, el Gobernador Salomón a través de Gestión del Riesgo realizó la construcción del puente La Victoria, sobre el caño Usivar, en la vereda San Rafael del municipio de Yopal. Lo que mejoró la movilidad en los sectores: Brisas de San Rafael, El Piñal, Centro, Villa Juliana II y Arcángel.
